FAQ’s

  • Year One Wellness provides both clinic and concierge (home) visits so you have access to appointments that best work for you. Our clinic is located in the Northwest Hills area of Austin, TX, and we travel to parts of both Travis and Williamson counties. Please contact us here to check if we service your area.

  • All appointments, including evaluations, follow up treatments, and wellness consultations are 45-60 minutes long depending on the infant’s tolerance and readiness for therapy. We do not expect or require newborn babies to stay awake for the duration of the appointment. Therapeutic intervention can be performed safely on babies while they are sleeping. Additionally, part of the appointment time is allocated for parent education.

  • Length of recommended treatment depends on age of infant and severity of condition. We will provide a prognosis and estimated length of treatment time at your evaluation. Typically, recommendations are 3-12 visits total, and may change as progress is made throughout the plan of care. What we do know is that the earlier treatment is started, the faster the resolution and better the outcomes for all conditions. Although we will recommend what we think is best for your child based on our experience, you are the parent and have the right to request as much or little support as needed for your family. We will work with you to provide as much help as we can within your parameters. We teach you exercises and activities between each session to help speed up your child’s progress.

  • We are an out-of-network practice and do not directly bill your insurance company. We require payment at the time of service. However, we do provide you with a detailed invoice and instructions on how to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The detailed invoice acts as a superbill and includes all the information, along with medical and treatment codes, needed to submit for reimbursement. Reimbursement is subject to each individual’s insurance plan and does not guarantee payment in full. We recommend verifying your out-of-network coverage for physical therapy services if reimbursement is desired. Wellness consults are not subject to reimbursement from insurance companies.

  • All forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, check, and HSA/FSA cards.

  • In the state of Texas, you do not need a referral for a physical therapy evaluation and 10 business days of treatment. However, a referral is required to continue treatment after that. We are happy to fax a referral to your physician directly, to remove that step for you. We strive to collaborate with all members of your infant’s medical team, and send our evaluation to your referring provider.

  • The goal of therapy is to provide your baby with the ability to master all motor skills independently, including feeding, tummy time, head movements, reaching, rolling, sitting, crawling, transitioning, standing, and walking. A baby who has difficulty with any of these motor skills likely has a combination of areas that need to be addressed. Treatment for your baby will consist of a multi-system approach with a combination of the following treatments: parent education, manual therapy, movement exercises, repositioning strategies, and functional activities. Manual therapy includes gentle skilled techniques to address the joints, muscles, fascia, and nervous system that are safe for babies. The multi-system approach is used to give babies the most successful outcomes.
